The Rochester-Novgorod Rule of Law Project (RNRLP) began in 1997, building upon well-established ties between the sister cities of Rochester, New York and Velikiy Novgorod, Russia. RNRLP's primary goal has always been to explore topics of interest to the Novgorod legal community, and to build deep personal foundations for the long-term cooperation of the legal communities in both cities. Through this cooperation, the rule of law is promoted - in both communities - and deep personal and professional relationships are established to support our mutual efforts.
Since its beginning, the partnership has shared ideas on many areas of law, including domestic violence, jury trial skills, commercial law and alternative dispute resolution, real estate, and many other topics. These efforts foster the long-term development of the Russian rule of law and bring our legal communities closer together, which in turn promotes further understanding and cooperation. The partnership's primary goal for the future is to sustain the partnership model for the distant future.
